Dessert Distraction

I am still editing pictures from the Atlanta shoots, and tonight I am going through a batch from a quarterly networking corporate event that I've been doing for about 2 years now.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING.

Don't get me wrong- it's a great gig.
I took over 400 pics of 'Big City Suits' that evening...

....and evidently one picture of this delicious looking dessert, which totally cracks me up because I don't even remember taking it!

And PS- I attended a 'Mayberry' town meeting tonight....I'm serious!
You'll have to wait until tomorrow to hear about that though... :)

My Ever-Constant Friend

Banjo just told me that he's been feeling a little left out lately, mostly because I haven't mentioned him awhile.

So today's post is dedicated to Banjo... my ever-constant friend.

"Tis pity not to have a dog, for at the
long day's end, The man or boy will
know the joy, Of welcome from a friend.
And whether he be rich or poor, Or much
of little bring, The dog will mark his
step and bark, As if he were a King.
Though gossips whisper now and then,
Of faults they plainly see, And some
may sneer, from year to year, My dog
stays true to me. He's glad to follow
where I go, And though I win or fail,
His love for me he'll let me see, By
wagging his tail. Now if I were to list
the friends Of mine in smiles and tears,
who through and through are staunch and
and true, And constant down the years,
In spite of all my many faults,
Which critics catalog, Deserving blame,
I'd have to name My ever-faithful dog.
"Tis pity not to have a dog, Whatever be
his breed, for Dogs possess a faithfulness,
Which humans sadly need. And whether
skys be blue or gray, Good luck or ill
Attend, Man's toil by day, a dog will stay,
His ever-constant friend.

~Edgar A. Guest

You're a good boy, Banjo.

Holy Geese & Mystery Photo Winner

Any idea what Pete is looking at?

Looks pretty interesting!

Holy Geese!

Walking on water...

Well, frozen water.
Aren't they cute though?

***************************

OH! And the winner of my Mystery Photo Contest was T LEE.
She guessed it was a pic of my windshield while I was in a car wash.....she gets an 8x10 print of her choice, which I know will be of her adorable boy Jackson-because I just did a shoot with her when I was in Atlanta a few weeks ago.

CONGRATS Tammy!

Which one is it gonna be? ; )

Thanks for all of the hilarious guesses- I will have another contest soon!

If It's Not One Thing... It's Your Mother!

It's been over 6 months now since we moved from Atlanta to our new home in Mayberry Onawa, Iowa.
Honestly, the only thing about Atlanta that I miss are my friends and family.
My mom has been threatening to move out here for a few months now, but Darrin and I tell her that she is not allowed to invade our new town.
The truth is, we'd love to have her move closer to us.
Now, when I say move 'closer' I don't mean 'MOVE IN TO OUR HOUSE', but 10-15 miles away would be an acceptable distance.

LOL!

So, here's a little rundown of what happened last night:

I drank some of this stuff
...

which made me a little
...

and miss my mommy...

so I called her..............

and asked her if she'd like to move to Onawa when her Atlanta lease is up.......she of course loved the idea.

WAIT...........WHAT???????

It's true.
Mom is going to move to our little Mayberry town this October.

OMG. What have I done???

Photo Contest!

I really love the "Mystery Photo Contest" that my new Aussie friend Bush Babe does...so I told her I might like to steal her idea for my Blog.

Every few weeks she posts a 'Mystery Photo', gives a deadline for commenting, and the person with the best/funniest guess wins a print of their choice from her Blog.
(You guys know my sick sense of humor so nothing will offend me...fire away!)

I am going to be very sad if nobody plays along for the chance to win a fabulous print from me.

So here goes my Mystery Photo #1:

Deadline for comments/guesses will be this Friday the 13th at midnight...
because that just sounds creepy and fun all at once!

Don't let me down people!!!!

P.S. I hate to steal her idea AND the name of her contest, so I'd like to call it something different.
I was thinking "Shot in the dark"..... but I welcome any other ideas.

Hiding My Candy

~This post is dedicated to Lola Nova, even though I found the stash on HIS side of the bed.~

As I made the bed today I also cleaned off D's little night stand, and of course my horrible habit of snooping forced me to open his drawer to take a peek.
And yes, I did discover that he was hiding something from me...

Chocolate!
The sight of the half eaten chocolate bar lying next to our gun totally cracked me up!
I love my husband.
Ya think I should get him THIS for Easter?

**Bonus points if you get the "Hiding My Candy" reference.
HINT- it's from my favorite Savannah Drag Queen.

Mural Mystery Solved!

Guess what?
I found the Artist who created my 'Giant Mad Girl'!
His name is John Cerney and you can check his work out HERE.
Click on his Photo Gallery then scroll to 'Large Cutouts' where you will find 'Crying Little Girl'... that's the proper name for my 'Giant Mad Girl'!

This image from his website shows how the original scene looked in 1997, the girl was added later.

"Iowa Landscape- 1997. A non-commissioned scene on a farm in western Iowa. Cerney convinced the parents of an ex-produce worker friend to allow him to place this unusual domestic scene on the edge of their farm off Highway 30, near Dunlap, Iowa. 16 feet tall, the man is hanging an Iowa landscape painting in front of an actual Iowa landscape. The Heins are posed in the foreground, owners of the farm. This scene was replaced in 1999 by the Little Girl Crying, and the landscape scene now sits in front of a picture frame shop in Salinas, CA."

OMG I love this guy and his Giant Cut-Out Art!

Someday I have to find more of his Murals, especially his 'Big Baby with Tractors', 'Treasure Hunt', and 'Marilyn Monroe with Artichokes'!!!

Back In Time

Here are a couple of funny pics that I took in downtown Onawa ('Mayberry') awhile back.

This is our local hair salon:

And here's our movie theater that shows ONE movie per week:

And this is the cartoon that D cut out of our paper for me while I was gone:

Since I can't hop in a DeLorean and set the flux capacitor back 50 years, well then I guess living in Onawa is the next best thing.
I love it!

I also realized that I haven't posted a 'Did It' from my '2 tears in a Bucket List' lately...
so I thought this would be a perfect time to share one of my favorite non-Mayberry-ish
(is that a word?) New York moments with you.

#12-Find the Naked Cowboy, convince him to hold a koozie with my friend's company's logo on it, and have him pose for a glamour shoot.

Damn I'm good.

Trumped

Me: "Don't forget to water my Chia each day while I'm gone, Darling."

Darrin: "Yeah, Yeah, OK!"

Poor Chia.
Now he'll have to resort to the Trump Comb-Over.

Cows & Pigs

I finally made it home today after about 13 hours of driving.
At one stop I was informed that Pete's breed is called an "American Who Knows"-
Now THAT'S a good one!

And I'm so glad the end of my trip included a big cow sighting.

She must be Albert's soulmate!

I also had a big pig sighting......

Thanks Officer Fife...I almost made the entire trip without a ticket.
