I can't wait to go down that tree shaded lane, see your farm thingies, and admire all the flowers! Will the dogs and BHB leave room for me in the jeep?? Will Darrin let me drive? I promise not to roll it - oops, you've already done that!!!

Love you,

Are those flowers thistles? Lovely lane too.
Oh, I meant to comment on your fireworks earlier, sounds like fun. Reminds me of when I used to live in the woods and my dad would get these carzy fireworks and M80s, scared the crap out of the neighbors cows.

apparently they were so crazy, they were carzy! Me can spell.

Diane, you can make a weed look like a work of art. LOVE your stuff.

PS: I think I have chosen my photo contest prize, but since I still haven't seen them all yet, I can't be sure. But so far the one I like the best is the old lady with the young lady reflection in the hand mirror.

What's the story behind that one?

Alix! That's my Mom! Diane did a whole series of photos of her Grandma - mirrors, hands, diaries, etc. Diane found the silver hand mirror at a flea market between Atlanta and Asheville.

LN, those are thistles, the seed are great to keep your liver in check if you drink heavy.

The closeup of the thistle flower is exquisite. Good to know I can chew on them when time gets rough and my liver my need a little extra help.

I don’t know if I like yer tone, are you implying…? Naw, can’t be - that’s just my drunken paranoia kickin’ in.
Nice thistle lore. Make a tea from Milk Thistle, dandelion Rt., artichoke lvs., & astragalus for complete liver health.
As a matter of anecdote, I’ve been wild crafting since I was a young thing living upriver in the house my daddy built. I know many an herb good for what ails ya.
As for me, I only take ‘em for the pain.

I say anything as pretty and luscious as those thistles has to be a flower!

LN & LH- speaking of home rememdies, we heard on the news that nebraska is taking morning glory seeds off the shelves because kids are using them like acid or something. what? crazy!

Alix- that pic is of my grandma holding her own picture-you can read more about her
HERE.i LOVE that you like that one! :) she was amazing.

LN, didn't know you were into pain, but thistles will cause a lot of pain, that's why we just use the seeds. Last time I ate a thistle made me carzy.

Loving the pics. You have such an eye for things. The goats love to eat thistles. I don't know why it doesn't make them crazy.

Hey, how did the dye job on the snow suit turn out?

diane said...

claire- i ended up returning the snowsuit for old navy credit- i did dye a pink outfit i got at a consignment shop- it came out pretty good- i need to take a pic!

Yeah, BHB, where are you??? Did T&T get arrested for shooting fireworks at the zoo, and you're still trying to bail them out?
