- We were in Texas temporarily.
- The neighbors found a big goofy dog in the road.
- They put him in their yard but didn't feed or water him.
- We call that 'Whiskey Tango', which is code for white trash.
- We asked if we could help find him a home.
- They said yes.
- We took him.
- We called him Texas Pete.
- Texas Pete was very bad and ate furniture and blinds and peed on the bed.
- Darrin took Pete to the Humane Society.
- I cried all day.
- We went back to get him but it had closed for the day, so we broke him out.
- Is that wrong?
- Too late now.
- He is very content.
- Pete also gets added to my '2 tears in a Bucket List' as a 'Did It'.
- #2 - Save a Life.
- Ahhh dogs. Aren't they great? They love you unconditionally.

thank GAD pete finally gets some good press!!!! poor dawg! it's hard being in banjo's shadow. i love texas pete!
Ahh, Texas Pete! And to think I haven't even met this granddog yet! I'm grateful for all the stories and pictures, though. I believe he's given enough love back to you for 5 dog lifetimes!!! Love you!
Oh, and how did you do on the cig wagon yesterday? I like your list!
Yeah Diane, what your mom said....how did you do on the cig wagon? You know we're not going to let this go.
Pete is gorgeous! Is he full greyhound? Does he have an ear tattoo? He is definitely a large percentage greyhound. We have a greyhound too.
claire & mom- cig wagon is hard!
no comment.
and we don't know what pete is but i definitely see greyhound in him. he runs like one for sure.
no tattoo that i know of?
If he was a track hound, he'd have a tattooed numbers inside his ears. So he probably isn't a track hound, but probably descended from one!
What a beautiful, amazing, story! And stay on that cig wagon...it's the hardest thing in the world to do, but it's worth it (and it does get easier eventually.) :)
I am pretty sure if mike and I had 17 acres we'd be in BIG trouble..cause I KNOW I would be bringing home a dog a month probably.
You did a good thing with Pete for sure.
now about those dreams...
I just saw your smoke free countdown on the sidebar! Very cool. Good luck, Punkin - I did it before you came along, so I know you can do it!!! We all love you for it.
